How syncing works
Every hour, plus whenever you press Sync now. What a sync changes, what it leaves alone, and how long things take.
When
- Automatically, every hour.
- On demand: press Sync now on the Contacts page. Useful right after onboarding someone.
What a sync does
- Reads the current people and details from your Google Workspace.
- Applies your App access, In directory and field settings.
- Removes anyone who has left your Google Workspace. They disappear from every phone on that same sync.
What a sync never does
- It never writes to Google Workspace. The connection is read-only.
- It never turns on App access by itself. New people arrive switched off; you decide.
- It never deletes contacts your team has saved into their own address books. Those are the phone’s contacts now.
Timing
- A new hire appears after the next hourly sync, or immediately after Sync now.
- Right after you change something in Google Admin, allow two to five minutes for Google to propagate it before syncing.
- The app refreshes its directory while it is open, so changes reach phones without anyone doing anything.
